Plain 1911 Rear Sight

This United Defense rear sight is a replacement or spare for 1911 pistols. It sits in the dovetail on top of the slide, a tapered slot that holds the sight in place by friction and lets it drift sideways for windage. The design is an all-black square notch with no dots or inserts, and it suits a worn or damaged sight, a pistol build, or a parts box.

Features

• Square Rear Notch — A flat-bottomed notch cut into the top edge frames the front sight post with clear light on either side.
• Plain Black Sight Picture — With no dots, outlines or inserts, the sight gives the traditional black-on-black picture many 1911 shooters prefer.
• Concave Rear Face — The shooter-facing side is scooped into a shallow curve, which helps keep the area around the notch shaded.
• Dovetail Base — The angled base slides into the slide's dovetail slot and can be drifted left or right to adjust point of impact.

Fit and Installation

Rear sight dovetails on 1911 slides are not all cut to the same dimensions, so check your slide's dovetail before ordering. Installation is normally done with a sight pusher or a brass punch and a small hammer, and a dovetail sight may need light fitting to seat snugly. If you are unsure, a gunsmith can fit it.
