Description
Belgian PVC Overcoat
This is a Belgian Army overcoat cut from OD (olive drab, the dark military green) PVC, a coated material that keeps rain and wind out. It is a double-breasted coat that falls below the hip, so it covers more of you than a field jacket when the weather turns. Collectors of Belgian kit will want it, and so will reenactors and anyone who needs a plain, heavy rain layer with genuine military provenance.
Features
- PVC Shell — The polyvinyl chloride outer is a non-porous material, so rain beads and runs off instead of soaking in.
- OD Green Colour — The deep olive drab shade matches standard military issue and reads almost black in low light.
- Double-Breasted Front — The front panels overlap and close with two columns of buttons, which doubles the layer across the chest against wind and rain.
- Six-Button Closure — Six large yellow buttons in a three-by-two layout are easy to work with cold or gloved hands.
- Notched Lapel Collar — The wide collar and lapels can lie flat or turn up to shield the neck.
- Front Pockets — Vertical slit pockets on the front panels give you somewhere to put your hands or small items.
- Rear Vent — A split at the back hem opens as you walk or sit, so the long cut does not restrict your stride.
- Below-Hip Length — The coat extends past the hips to keep water off the top of your trousers.
Belgian Army Issue
This coat was produced for the Belgian armed forces, not for the fashion market, and it is built to the plain, functional pattern that implies. It has a set-in sleeve, a centre back seam and a simple button front with no zips to fail. If you want an authentic piece of European military outerwear rather than a costume copy, this is the original government-issue item.
