Beretta, also known as Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta, is an Italian arms manufacturer established in 1526, making it the oldest active arms manufacturer today. The company has been family-owned since its inception. It is known for its wide range of firearms, which include handguns, rifles, shotguns, submachine guns and much more – all of which find markets with the military, law enforcement agencies and civilians worldwide. Beretta USA, Beretta's American production facility, is stationed just a few miles down the road in Accokeek, Maryland. But that is not very relevant as it is in Brescia, Italy that the full-sized Beretta Px4 Storm is manufactured.

Beretta has been around for more than 450 years, so it is probably safe to assume that they produce a fine product. But let us take a deeper look into what really makes the Px4 worth your time.

The full-sized Beretta Px4 Storm combines the operating system from the 92 series and the rotating barrel system of the 8000 series with an ergonomic new design that offers power, reliability and versatility of the highest degree. You want power? This Beretta Px4 Storm is chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, one of the top self-defense cartridges available due in part to its flat trajectory, moderate recoil and its tendency to inflict lethal wounds at ranges of 50m. Additionally, this pistol provides nearly unmatched versatility. And I am not just talking about the inclusion of a MIL-STD 1913 accessory rail for the attachment of tactical lights and lasers. As noted, the pistol comes with three interchangeable backstraps: one small, one medium and one large. They are designed so that the grip can be better tailored to the hand of the shooter. The magazine release comes in three different sizes and can be mounted on either side of the pistol. Combined with the manual safety and decocker, this provides for a truly ambidextrous pistol. Finally, the slide catch is interchangeable with a smaller version in the event that the pistol will be used for concealed carry.

The full-sized Beretta Px4 Storm features a 4-inch barrel and an overall length of 7.6 inches. Speaking of the barrel, its chrome lining provides enhanced protection against corrosion and pitting. Additionally, the rotating barrel system dissipates recoil energy radially – making the amount of recoil the shooter feels almost negligible. With its lightweight polymer frame, the pistol weighs in at just over 1.5 pounds. In other words, it is extremely manageable. As noted, the pistol also includes several safety features in the form of a manual safety/decocker. When depressed, the rear of the firing pin is rotated out of alignment with the front of the firing pin. The three-dot iron sight system provides for the rapid acquisition of targets and pinpoint accuracy up to 50m. The pistol also lends itself to simple cleaning and maintenance as it is designed to be quickly field stripped and reassembled without confusion. As noted, two 17-round magazines are included with every pistol.

So, what is it going to take for you to order a new Beretta Px4 Storm? Should I mention how well suited it is for personal protection and law enforcement? What about the fact that is makes a great pistol for sport and target shooting.
