Mk II Brodie Reproduction
This is Mil-Tec's reproduction of the British Mk II steel helmet, the wide-brimmed "Brodie" or "Tommy" helmet worn by British and Commonwealth forces throughout the Second World War. It is made for reenactors who need a period-correct look, for collectors filling a gap on the shelf, and for costume and film use. It is a reproduction, not original British Army issue, and it is not rated as protective equipment.
Features
- 18 Gauge Steel Shell — The shell is pressed from 18 gauge steel, so it has the weight and feel of a real metal helmet rather than a plastic prop.
- Wide Flared Brim — The shallow bowl and broad, sloping brim give the instantly recognizable Mk II silhouette.
- Rolled Rim Edging — A separate metal strip is folded over the brim edge, following the construction of the original.
- Olive Drab Finish — The shell is painted a matte olive drab, a muted military green, inside and out.
- Padded Liner — A black segmented liner with a reddish-brown headband sits inside the shell and holds it off the head.
- Crown Pad — A cushioned pad at the top of the liner keeps the steel from resting directly on your crown.
- Khaki Canvas Chinstrap — The chinstrap is khaki cotton webbing, with gathered fabric-covered sections where it meets the shell and a metal slider for length.
- Adjustable Fit — The liner and strap adjust to suit a range of head sizes.
- Display, Not Protection — This helmet is not classified as personal protective equipment and should not be used as safety headgear.
Construction and Fit
Mil-Tec is a German maker of military-pattern clothing and gear, and this helmet follows the Mk II layout closely: a steel bowl, a suspended liner with a central crown pad, and a webbing chinstrap anchored to lugs on either side of the shell. The liner fits a range of head sizes, so most wearers can get it seated without modification. The clean, new-condition paint suits reenactors portraying an early-war or freshly issued kit, and it also works as a base for anyone who wants to add their own unit markings or weathering.
