Description
Pistol Shotshell for Pests
CCI's .40 S&W Shotshells turn a .40 S&W handgun into a short-range pest tool. Each cartridge fires a charge of small pellets instead of a single bullet, so the pattern spreads enough to hit snakes, rodents and similar pests at close quarters. Farmers, hikers, and anyone who already carries a .40 S&W in the field can use them without packing a second gun.
Features
- .40 S&W Caliber — Chambered for the .40 Smith & Wesson cartridge used in many service and carry pistols.
- #9 Shot — Loaded with #9 shot, one of the smallest common pellet sizes, which gives a dense pattern for small targets up close.
- 88-Grain Shot Charge — The payload weighs 88 grains, the unit cartridge makers use for weight (7,000 grains make a pound).
- 1,250 FPS Muzzle Velocity — The shot leaves the muzzle at 1,250 feet per second.
- 305 Ft-Lbs Muzzle Energy — Muzzle energy is rated at 305 foot-pounds.
- Aluminum Cases — The cases are aluminum rather than brass, as the silver finish on each round shows.
- Made In USA — CCI builds this load in the United States, as marked on the box.
- 10 Rounds Per Box — Each box holds 10 cartridges under CCI product number 3740.
Load and Case Details
CCI built this round for pest control, and that is how it is marked on the box. Inside the aluminum case, 88 grains of #9 shot sit in place of a bullet and spread after leaving the barrel. Because the pellets are small and lose energy quickly, this is a close-range load for pests. It is not a defensive or hunting round.
