The Cold Steel Gang Hatchet 90AXG is a one-hand chopping tool for camp, trail and yard work: splitting kindling, limbing branches and clearing brush. It pairs a drop-forged 1055 carbon steel head with an 18-inch American hickory handle, so it stays light enough to carry but long enough to swing with real force. At 20.25 inches overall, it fits in a pack, a truck box or a bug-out kit.

Steel and Hickory Build

Cold Steel built this hatchet from the same two materials woodsmen have relied on for generations: forged carbon steel and hickory. The flared head mounts on a straight, round-profile handle with a light natural finish. Carbon steel will rust if it is put away wet, so wipe the head dry after use and give it a light coat of oil before storage.
