The FNS-40 is FN's full-size, striker-fired pistol chambered in .40 S&W, set up here with night sights for shooting in poor light. Striker-fired means there is no external hammer: pulling the trigger completes the cocking cycle and releases the striker, so every pull feels the same. It suits duty carry, home defense and range work, and its controls work from either hand, so left-handed shooters are not an afterthought.

The pistol pairs a black polymer frame with a black-finished slide, and the slide is marked as made in the USA by FNH LLC in Columbia, South Carolina.
