The French F2 Rucksack is a strong, compact, and functional rucksack that was previously used by the French Army. Soldiers in the French Army praised this medium sized rucksack for how well it performed, how much gear it can hold, and how comfortable it was on longer hikes or short deployments. With the main compartment, two side pockets, front and rear external pockets, you'll have plenty of space to hold your essential gear in the F2 rucksack.
Like all military rucksacks, the F2 Rucksack is packed with features that make it stand out from commercial backpacks. The first feature of note is the steps taken to make the F2 rucksack water resistant. Constructed from water resistant vinyl material, the French F2 rucksack will keep your gear dry while hiking in the rain. Further enhancements such as double layered covering for the main compartment will offer increased water resistance. Second feature to take notice of is the amount of space this compact rucksack offers, with a spacious interior main compartment, two side pockets, a rear pocket, and a front pocket that stays tight against your back while wearing the F2 rucksack. Add all of this together and take into account the comfort provided by the adjustable padded shoulder straps and you've got a first rate backpack at a bargain price.

I don't have much to add to the other positive reviews except to note that I was a little hesitant to order this due to the possibility that the waterproof or resistant vinyl material might prove to be cheap or weak. It is neither and the bag is very well constructed. I am very impressed with it. It's a good looking solid bag. I bought it thinking that for the price it might be worthwhile to purchase as a day bag or overnight bag given it's water resistant aspects (I live in coastal Oregon). I am now thinking about buying a couple more for use as small bug out or vehicle breakdown bags since the one I received is superior to what I am now using for this purpose. I also bought the Croatian bag, which, though also a good deal for the money, really doesn't compare with this one.
I ordered two bags and received two bags that are not the same. One bag is just like the picture. The second is a different color, lighter green, and uses friction buckles instead of plastic quick release buckles. The second bag is slightly taller and in almost new condition. I like the bag in the picture better. Im a bit annoyed that in the description nothing is said about different models.Im slightly disappointed with the second bag, mainly due to the buckles.
these french packs are built like tanks. They have all sorts of features constructed into them. They are meant to have a bed roll and likely an e tool and other gear fastened to it, and has straps and such for this. Also has extra pockets and a d ring to hand it. All stitching and materiel over built.
I use this ruck for camping and its amazing. Probably top 10 for budget packs!
Unlike the last two reviewers my rucksack was brand spanking new. You tell it has been sitting around for a few decades but it was brand new, still has the tag on it. Also the one I received is just like the one pictured with the plastic buckles not the old style metal. All in all it seems like a great buy
Lots of features and a good design, but mine was not in pristine condition. Surplus used is a fair assessment. The coated fabric is getting old. It's not yet delaminating, but it's not new either. Some straps were taped up, which left a sticky residue on the strap. More straps than really needed- I wonder what all these were for- presumably some specific function related to another piece of kit; I may never know. That said, it got good use last weekend, and worked well hauling family stuff on a day hike.
This is a nice, waterproof bag. It shows signs of use but still has a lot of life left in it so for the price, good bargain. However, the pictures do not portray what you actually receive, so take this into account - the buckles are not the nice, modern snapping type, but rather the older, metallic slide-through and loop back type (sorry, don't know the correct nomenclature), so you can't close it in a hurry. This wasn't a deal breaker for me, and Keep Shooting, as they always do, happily offered me the opportunity to return the product for a full refund. I chose to keep my bag, as I think it's still a good deal.
This french army rucksack will keep out the rain no doubt, bought mine as a go bag, this arrived NEW with the MADE IN FRANCE tags still on. Nothing on this bag is worn, I!m completely satisfied with this purchase! If your thinking of buying a back pack this thing is it, its tough and durable, you won`t regret it!
I live SSW of Seattle. We take waterproofing seriously here. This pack will surely keep out the 6 months of rain to come. The pack was new with only a touch of discoloration from storage. Lots of straps and pockets.
Tough med size rucksack good to go. Mine used but in great shape - has old style canvas straps w/ metal keepers not newer plastic buckles as pictured but vinage Kool w/me. Daily worn as I bike across town so I'm very happy with quality and price
Received my pack today and was well pleased with it. The pack was noticeably used but well maintained and worth the price. As usual Keep Shooting was fast on processing my order and shipped right on time. Thanks Keep Shooting and keep up the good work.
I needed a day bag to take and be rough with, something that could take the abuse from the harshest customers: children. Yes, I made this my daddy diaper bag for going to parks, picnics, the zoo, and woodland hikes (start em young). I never had to worry about getting it dirty and it took everything I could throw at it...or it at. I cut the straps off and did quiet a bit of modding to make it a messenger bag, but that only made me love it all the more. This bag is super tough, super roomy, and super manly (which is important to my self esteem as a stay at home dad). I easily pack lunch and water for three toddlers and myself in here, plus diapers.
First of all this thing is rugged. It screams 'tough' I use it mostly as a day bag when I suspect wet weather is possible. The waterproof covering is superb against rain. I've left it out overnight in a light rain with no issues.
