The French Army paratrooper knife is the WildSteer Tarasco, a fixed-blade field knife with a drop-point blade marked FRANCE and 56-57 HRC. A ribbed coyote handle with an integral guard gives a secure hold, and two Torx screws fix it to the tang, which shows at the pommel next to a lined lanyard hole. Description

French Paratrooper Knife

The WildSteer Tarasco is a fixed-blade knife carried under the French Army name for paratroopers. It is a field knife sized for everyday work: cutting cord and webbing, opening rations, preparing kindling and handling general camp chores. It is aimed at soldiers, collectors of French kit and anyone who wants an issue-pattern belt knife with a proper sheath.

Features

  • Drop-Point Blade — The spine curves gently down to the tip, which keeps the point strong and controllable for both slicing and detail work.
  • Marked 56-57 HRC — The blade is stamped with its hardness on the Rockwell C scale, a range that balances edge holding against toughness and easy field sharpening.
  • Satin Finish With WildSteer Etch — The plain-edge blade carries the WildSteer logo and a FRANCE marking at the ricasso.
  • Ribbed Coyote Handle — Molded rings along the grip give your hand something to hold when it is wet, cold or gloved.
  • Integral Single Guard — A flared guard at the front of the handle helps stop your fingers sliding forward onto the edge.
  • Torx Screw Construction — Two star-head screws hold the handle to the tang.
  • Exposed Pommel And Lanyard Hole — The tang shows at the butt, and a lined hole above it takes a lanyard or retention cord.
  • Coyote Nylon Sheath — Heavy webbing with riveted edges, a snap retention strap over the handle and a wide belt loop.
  • Adjustable Sheath Cord — A cord with a cord lock runs through grommets at the tip so you can tie the sheath down to your leg or kit.

Issue Pattern And Sheath

This is French Army kit, not a commercial lookalike, and the blade is marked FRANCE alongside its hardness rating. The coyote handle and matching sheath fit current French field equipment, and the sheath carries a tricolor badge on its face. The snap strap and tie-down cord let it ride on a belt or strap to the thigh, which is how paratroopers keep a knife secure during a jump.

This knife was designed in coordination with the 13eme RDP thats the French Parachute Dragoon Regiment, one of Frances most elite special operations units. When guys like that have input on a blade design you know its gonna be functional and tough. The 5.12" X46Cr13 stainless blade is thick and came with a really aggressive edge out of the box. The overall length of 10.43" puts it right in that sweet spot between a big folder and a small machete — perfect for field work without being overkill. The handle ergonomics are outstanding, clearly designed by people who actually use knives in the field and not just in a marketing meeting. Ive been using it around camp for about a month now and its quickly become my go-to fixed blade. Made in France, designed by French Special Forces hard to argue with that pedigree
