These overboots are a waterproof rubber shell that goes on over your regular boots, keeping slush, mud and standing water off the footwear underneath. The German Army issued them for cold, wet conditions, where dry feet help prevent cold injury. Bundeswehr Issue

The Bundeswehr, Germany's armed forces, issued this pattern as part of West German military kit between the 1970s and 1990s. They were built to military requirements for winter and wet-weather duty.
