Description
German Army Rain Pants
These are German Army Gore-Tex pants in Flecktarn camouflage, issued to Bundeswehr soldiers as a wet-weather layer. They go on over your regular trousers when the rain starts and keep your legs dry through long days outdoors. Hunters, campers, hikers and collectors of German kit buy them for the same reason the army did: a waterproof shell that still lets you move and work.
Features
- Gore-Tex Shell — Gore-Tex is a waterproof, breathable membrane that keeps rain out while letting sweat vapor escape, so you stay drier from both sides.
- Flecktarn Camouflage — The German Army's spotted pattern of greens, browns and black is printed across the whole garment and blends well into mixed woodland.
- Adjustable Suspenders — Olive webbing straps with metal slider buckles hold the pants up and let you set how high they sit.
- High-Cut Waist — The body rises above the hips front and back, which closes the gap where rain gets in between a jacket and trousers.
- Snap Front Closure — Metal press snaps fasten the waist and are easy to work with cold or gloved hands.
- Full Overpant Cut — The seat and legs are cut generously so the pants pull on over field trousers or insulating layers.
- German Army Issue — These pants were made for and issued by the Bundeswehr, not produced for the commercial outdoor market.
Original Bundeswehr Issue
The Bundeswehr is Germany's armed forces, and Flecktarn has been its standard camouflage for decades. These pants were built to the army's own specification for a waterproof outer layer, with a Gore-Tex shell, a high waist and suspenders in place of a belt. For reenactors and collectors of German gear, that provenance matters, and for everyone else it means rain pants made to a military standard.

Tough rain pants for cheapBought these as a beater pair for elk scouting and brush busting where I don't want to thrash my nicer Goretex. They've been through about 3 months of soggy Pacific Northwest weather and they're holding up great. Waterproofing is legit sat on a wet log eating lunch for 20 min and stayed bone dry. The velcro waist adjustment and the suspender setup is a little fiddly compared to a normal drawcord but you get used to it. The Large I got is roomy in the waist but kinda short if you're tall. I'm 5'10" and they're fine over boots, anyone over 6'1" should size up. Way better value than the British DPM MVP pants I had before.

Good rain pants for the moneyBought these for my husband and he says they work great over his regular pants when its raining. They smell a little like storage when you first get them but that goes away after airing out. Overall happy with the purchase.

Keeps you totally dry even in heavy rainThese things are no joke. Been using them on weekend hikes and they hold up way better than the cheap stuff from REI. Got caught in a downpour last week and stayed completely dry the whole time. The suspenders are a little weird at first but honestly you get used to them fast.

Finally dry legs on rainy hikesI live in Oregon where hiking in the rain is basically unavoidable 8 months out of the year and these German Gore-Tex pants have been a total game changer. I wore them on a 10 mile hike in the Coast Range in steady rain and my legs stayed completely dry the entire time. The zippered ankles are genius because I can put them on right over my boots without having to unlace anything which means I can throw them on when the rain starts without stopping for five minutes on the trail. The integrated suspenders keep them in place way better than just a waistband would especially when moving fast downhill. The Flecktarn camo looks awesome in Pacific Northwest forests too.

Great rain pantsThe quality on these German surplus pants is impressive. The double snap front is solid and the integrated suspenders actually stay put. I've worn them in heavy downpours and stayed completely dry. Perfect for any outdoor activity in wet weather.
Flecktarn camo is the best!
