Wehrmacht M40 Trousers

These are Mil-Tec's reproduction of the M40 trousers worn by German soldiers in the Second World War. They follow the period pattern: a high waist built for suspenders, a buttoned front, angled hip pockets and straight legs. Reenactors, living-history groups, collectors displaying a full uniform and costume departments working on period productions will find the details where they expect them.

Features

• Field Gray Color — The flecked gray-green cloth matches feldgrau, the field gray shade of German army uniforms of the period.
• Suspender Buttons — Metal buttons spaced around the outside of the waistband take period-style braces, which is how these trousers were designed to be held up.
• High-Rise Waist — The waistband sits high on the body like the original cut, so the trousers hang correctly under a tunic.
• Buttoned Front Closure — The front fastens with buttons rather than a zipper, in keeping with wartime construction.
• Slanted Hip Pockets — Two angled front pockets each close with a single button to keep small items from falling out.
• Front Fob Pocket — A narrow welt pocket, a slit opening with a finished edge, sits at the front for a pocket watch or other small item.
• Lined Waistband — A light-colored lining runs around the inside of the waistband.
• Straight-Leg Cut — The straight, roomy legs tuck into marching boots or gather under ankle boots and gaiters for later-war impressions.

Reproduction By Mil-Tec

These trousers are newly manufactured by Mil-Tec, not original wartime stock, so you can wear them, wash them and take them into the field without putting a scarce artifact at risk. The pattern keeps the parts of the M40 design that show in photographs and at events: suspender buttons, buttoned pockets, the fob pocket and the field gray color. Plan to wear them with suspenders, because the waistband is built around braces rather than a belt.
