Italian Leather Flap Holster

This is an Italian government-issue black leather flap holster, made to carry a full-size service pistol on the belt with the gun fully covered. The flap closes over the grip and a leather strap locks it down, so the pistol stays seated and protected from rain and dirt. The photographs show it holding a Beretta 92-series pistol, which gives a good guide to the size of handgun it takes. Collectors of Italian kit, reenactors and owners of Beretta 92-pattern pistols are the people who will want one.

Features

• Black Leather Body — The shell is cut from smooth black leather and shaped to the outline of a full-size pistol with the muzzle enclosed.
• Full-Cover Flap — A rounded flap folds over the entire grip and rear of the slide, shielding the pistol from weather and keeping it out of view.
• Strap And Staple Closure — A leather tab on the flap passes through a metal staple on the holster body to hold the flap shut.
• Drop Belt Loop — A wide leather loop fastened with rivets and snaps lets the holster hang slightly below the belt line, which keeps the grip clear of body armor or a jacket hem.
• Metal Swivel Hangers — Two metal hanger plates on D-rings slot into a stitched pocket on the back, so the holster can pivot as you sit or move.
• Rough-Out Interior — The inside of the flap and body shows the tan suede side of the leather, the unfinished flesh side, which grips the pistol lightly without a polished surface.
• Stitched And Riveted Seams — Edges are sewn along the full outline and reinforced with rivets at the stress points around the opening.
• Contract Stamped — The underside of the flap carries an ink stamp reading POLIZIA along with the maker and a contract number dated 22/11/85.

Contract Markings

Each holster is ink stamped inside the flap with POLIZIA, the contractor's name and the contract reference, which ties it to an Italian government order placed in November 1985. Examples photographed carry maker stamps from Ettore Carletto s.r.l. and from B. Quinzi, so the maker named on your unit may differ. Those markings are the main reason collectors look for issued Italian leather over a commercial holster. The pistol in the photographs is for size reference only and is not included.
