Footless stockings/ hose tops.Be sure to fold the top down over itself; don't pull them up over your knees like in the photo. Examine the middle part of that uppermost section; you can see and feel that it's slightly thicker there. There's extra yarn right there, for reinforcement, because that is actually the top of the stocking, when they're worn as they're meant to be. Google "hose tops" for a visual.
You don't see current-issue Italian military hose tops too often.

I wish someone would make thse againI am 6 feet 5 inches tall with a thin build size 14 R in milspec boots.. I wear wool 4 months of the year in the SF Bay area when it gets cold outside. I work outside. not bulky like heavy duty socks. they hug around my calf all day long. can be worn underneath the sock you normally wear with the shoes you normal wear.
