Description
Jarosz Turok Fixed Blade
The Ka-Bar Turok is a full-size fixed blade designed by knifemaker Jesse Jarosz and made by Ka-Bar in Olean, New York. Its 6.25 in (159 mm) blade is long enough for batoning firewood, cleaning game and general camp work, but the knife still weighs only 0.8 lb. It fits a hunter, bushcrafter or anyone who wants one dependable belt knife for heavier jobs than a folder can handle.
Features
- 1095 Cro-Van Steel — A high-carbon steel with chromium and vanadium added, valued for taking a keen edge and being easy to resharpen in the field.
- 56-58 HRC Hardness — Hardened to 56-58 on the Rockwell C scale, a range that balances edge retention against the toughness to resist chipping.
- Clip Point Blade — The spine dips toward a fine, controllable tip that suits detail work such as skinning and carving.
- Flat Grind, Plain Edge — The blade tapers evenly from spine to edge and is sharpened to a 20-degree angle, which cuts cleanly and is simple to maintain on a stone.
- 3/16 in Blade Stock — At 0.188 in thick and 1.563 in wide, the blade has the mass for chopping and splitting wood.
- Black Blade Finish — A black coating covers the blade, cutting glare and adding a layer of protection over the carbon steel.
- Ultramid Handle Scales — Brown synthetic scales are fastened with hex screws and shaped with a finger choil and guard for a secure grip.
- Extended Tang With Lanyard Hole — The steel tang runs past the end of the handle and is pierced for a lanyard, giving you a solid pommel and a tie-off point.
- Celcon Sheath — A rigid molded plastic sheath with a nylon belt loop and snap retention strap holds the knife securely, with rows of eyelets along both edges for lashing.
- Made In The USA — Built by Ka-Bar in Olean, NY, as marked on the blade.
Size And Construction
Overall length is 11.5 in (292 mm), with the blade and an extended tang cut from one piece of 1095 Cro-Van. The brown Ultramid scales carry an embossed Jarosz logo, and the hex hardware means the handle is bolted on rather than glued. The sheath rides on a nylon belt loop, and its strap snaps over the handle so the knife stays put when you move. Because 1095 is a carbon steel, wipe the edge dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on any exposed metal.
