Description
Compact Fixed Blade Carry
The Ka-Bar TDI Investigator is a small fixed blade knife built for low-profile everyday carry (EDC), the kit you keep on you all day rather than packed away for a trip. It has a short drop point blade and a handle that bends sharply downward, so it sits in the fist almost like a pistol grip and stays close to the body when worn. At 5 inches overall, it suits anyone who wants a fixed blade on the belt without the bulk of a full-size field knife.
Features
- AUS-8A Stainless Steel Blade — AUS-8A is a Japanese stainless steel that resists rust well and is easy to bring back to a working edge with ordinary sharpeners.
- Drop Point Plain Edge — The spine slopes gently down to the tip, giving a strong point and a long, straight-sharpened edge for everyday cutting.
- 2.71-Inch Blade, 5-Inch Overall — Short enough to carry discreetly while still giving a usable length of edge for cord, packaging and general tasks.
- 0.12-Inch Blade Stock — The blade is ground from steel just under 1/8 inch thick, a balance between slicing ability and stiffness.
- Fixed Blade Construction — With no hinge or lock to wear or fail, the blade is ready to use the moment it leaves the sheath.
- Matte Black Finish — The non-reflective black coating keeps the blade from catching light and carries the KA-BAR name and TDI logo.
- Angled Composite Handle — Textured nylon and fiberglass scales are fastened with three screws and shaped with a deep finger notch behind the blade.
- Grip Texture and Jimping — A pebbled surface plus jimping, the row of small notches along the handle's spine and belly, help your hand stay put when wet or gloved.
- Hard Molded Sheath — The rigid black sheath holds the knife by its shape and has eyelet holes and mounting hardware for attaching it to a belt or gear.
Build and Carry
Ka-Bar pairs a stainless AUS-8A blade with a nylon and fiberglass composite handle, so the whole knife stays light and shrugs off moisture. The downward handle angle puts the edge in line with your forearm, which keeps the grip natural when the knife is drawn from a belt-worn sheath. The molded sheath has multiple mounting points, giving you some choice in where and how the knife rides.
