Good range toySo I picked up a couple of these KCI 40s to complement my Bulgarian ribbed steel mags and surplus Romanian top loaders. Look, they're not Circle 10s or true combloc surplus, but for the price they're honestly not bad. The Cation Electrodeposition Coating finish is actually pretty durable - I've dragged these through the dirt at the range and they clean up easy enough. Feed lips are reinforced which is nice, and the polymer follower runs smooth. I did notice the spring is a bit stiffer than my Bulgarians out of the box, took about 200 rounds to break in properly. If you're building a clone-correct AKM, yeah you want surplus. But for blasting with your WASR-10 on weekends? These do the job. Just don't expect them to appreciate in value like a NOS Romanian.
Durable electroplated finish, Reinforced feed lips, Affordable range mags
Stiff spring initially, Not collector-grade, polymer follower feels cheap next to surplus
