National Defense Service Medal Set

National Defense Medal

This set pairs the National Defense Service Medal with its matching ribbon bar, so you have both the full-size decoration and the everyday uniform version. Veterans use it to replace or complete a medal rack, and families buy it to frame alongside a service member's records. Collectors and reenactors who want US Army supply-issue items instead of a novelty-shop copy will also find it here.

Features

• Full-Size Medal — The bronze-toned round medal hangs from a suspension loop beneath a drape ribbon, the folded length of ribbon worn above a medal on dress uniforms.
• Matching Ribbon Bar — A short rectangular ribbon in the same stripe pattern is included for wear on service uniforms where full medals are not worn.
• Eagle Obverse Design — The face carries an eagle with spread wings perched on a sword and palm branch, under the raised words NATIONAL DEFENSE.
• Red And Yellow Ribbon — A wide yellow center stripe is flanked by thin red, white, blue and white stripes on a broad red field, matching the regulation pattern for this award.
• Fine Ribbed Weave — Both ribbons use the tight horizontal ribbing typical of military medal ribbon, which keeps the stripes crisp and even.
• NSN Catalogued — Listed under NSN 8455-00-281-3214, the National Stock Number the US military supply system uses to identify the item.
• US Army Supply Issue — Sourced as genuine government-issue stock instead of an aftermarket commercial version.

Issue Specification

The National Defense Service Medal goes to US service members for honorable active service during designated periods of national emergency, which makes it one of the most widely held American military awards. This set follows the standard issue layout: a full-size medal on its drape plus a separate ribbon bar. Because it carries a federal stock number, it is the same item a supply clerk would draw for a soldier, and it suits a uniform rack, a shadow box, or a collection of US decorations.
