Hold it tight.Incredible machete. Very tough, VERY sharp. Can't bend it. It will last a long time . Only one thing, if you're not used to a D handle tool, be careful. If you're not holding it tightly enough, your hand can move and whack the inside of the D when the machete stops in the wood. But if you wear gloves, and/or hold it tightly enough, that doesn't happen. It was only after the 1st whack for me. You should anyway, just have a firm grip on it. Very nice tool. And couldn't beat the price. Must've been last year's model because it wasn't on Ontario Knife's site. No matter. It's a great tool.

Good bamboo knifeCuts through small bamboo with ease, which was the reason I bought it.

Great build qualitySolid build! Edge was sharp out of the box. The blade was also straight.

capable but read the reviewsDecent for the price. Everyone says this in the reviews but what does it mean? It came with and edge, not something you could cut paper or steak with, but and edge that felt sharp. For 1/2 inch branches, it holds up fine. I swung low and caught a rock - instant chip. The heat treat or metal could be better to solve this but it feels good in the hand.
Update: Months later - I love it. No major issues after lots of use. 8" trees and all sizes of bushes and vines are no match. Buy a sharpening stone. Cut the hand guard at the bottom and grind smooth to keep from crushing your pinky on a strong blow.
