The Ruger 10/22 makes closing a locked-back bolt awkward. You have to pull the charging handle back and press the bolt lock at the same time, or work the release in a particular sequence. The Volquartsen Automatic Bolt Release replaces the factory bolt lock plate so that pulling the charging handle back and letting go sends the bolt home. It is a small part for 10/22 owners who want quicker handling at the range, on the bench or in competition.

Installation And Fit

To install the plate, take the trigger group out of the stock and partly disassemble the housing to swap out the factory bolt lock plate. Owners comfortable stripping a 10/22 trigger group can usually do the job at the bench. If you have not taken one apart before, have a gunsmith fit it. After installation, check that the bolt locks open and releases correctly before you load the rifle.
