AR-15 Armorer's Wrench
The NcStar AR15 / M16 Wrench Combo Tool is a flat armorer's wrench that puts the main AR-pattern bench jobs on a single plate. Use it to fit or remove a barrel, tighten the castle nut on a buffer tube, or work on a muzzle device without digging through a drawer of separate wrenches. It suits home builders putting together a first upper, and owners who want one tool in the range bag for routine maintenance.
Features
- Toothed Barrel Nut Wrench — The large open jaw has a ring of teeth that engage the barrel nut, the notched nut that holds the barrel to the upper receiver.
- Pinned Jaw Face — Small pins on the opposite face of the same jaw give the tool a second way to grip nuts that use holes or slots instead of teeth.
- Square Drive Hole — A square cutout near the jaw accepts the square drive of a torque wrench or breaker bar, so you can tighten the barrel nut to a measured torque.
- Castle Nut Cutout — The curved cutout with raised lugs fits the castle nut, the notched nut that locks the buffer tube to the lower receiver.
- Hook Spanner End — A C-shaped hook with a small tab at its tip grips notched nuts from the side when a straight jaw cannot reach.
- Flat-Sided Slots — Rectangular slots along the body take the wrench flats on flash hiders and other muzzle devices.
- Three Through-Holes — A row of round holes runs through the handle section between the two working ends.
- Textured Black Finish — The whole plate carries a textured black coating that resists slipping in an oily hand.
Build And Compatibility
The tool is cut from a single flat metal plate, with the barrel nut jaw at one end and the hook spanner at the other, and the length between them gives you leverage on a tight nut. It is designed around the AR-15 and M16 pattern, so it suits standard mil-spec barrel nuts, castle nuts and muzzle devices on that platform. Proprietary handguard nuts from some aftermarket makers use their own wrenches, so check your parts before relying on this as your only tool.

Did my whole build with this thingUsed this to swap out my barrel nut and put a new free float handguard on my AR last weekend and it worked great. Fit my GI barrel nut no problem and its thin enough to get on the narrow flats of my muzzle brake where my regular wrench from the garage was too fat to fit, which saved me a trip to the store. Also used the castle nut end when I put on the new stock and the 1/2 drive hole let me hook up my torque wrench which was nice. For the price you cant go wrong, way cheaper then the fancy brand ones and does what its supposed to.

Solid budget wrenchPicked this up to finish a lower build I had sitting around. Made of steel it feels hefty in the hand which I appreciate. Got the barrel nut tightened down no problem and the castle nut went on smooth using the three-point wrench end. Just a heads up tho - I saw some reviews saying the teeth can break if you really crank on it with a torque wrench. I stopped at about 35 ft-lbs and used some blue loctite, been solid ever since. For the price point (way less than the Magpul or Brownells options), this gets the job done for your average home builder. The flash hider slots worked fine on my A2 birdcage too.

Very handyGood tool overall, works well for what it is intended to do, seems to be well made, its steel so it should last. A must have if you assemble and disassemble your rifle.

good to have!If nothing else its worth its weight in steel. Lets just say it won't be making out in the field as a lite ar multi tool. It not a precision tool or anything like that, but it will do a lot of the major assembly and disassembly of your ar. It is worth having around for sure!
