The Rothco Mini Alice Pack is a compact cotton canvas rucksack modeled on the US military ALICE pack (All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment), the field pack American troops carried for decades. Rothco scaled the layout down to about 20 liters, which suits a day hike, a range bag, a school or work commute, or a get-home kit. This is a civilian G.I.-style reproduction, not original-issue military equipment, finished in an earthy brown.

• 18 oz Cotton Canvas — The body is cut from heavyweight 18-ounce cotton canvas, a dense woven fabric that holds its shape and stands up to scuffing.
• Top-Loading Main Compartment — You load the main bag from the top and cinch it shut with a cord drawstring before closing the flap over it.
• Strapped Cover Flap — A wide canvas flap covers the opening and is held down by two long webbing straps that run down the front of the pack.
• Three Front Pockets — Three flapped external pockets sit across the front, each closed with a webbing strap and metal buckle, for gear you want to reach without opening the main bag.

Canvas Build and Fit

Every part you see is canvas or cotton webbing, with black metal buckles on the pockets and metal adjusters where the shoulder straps meet the base of the pack. The back panel is plain canvas with no frame, so the bag rides close to the body and packs flat when empty. At around 20 liters it holds a day's worth of layers, water and small kit rather than overnight camping gear.
