FAMAE Chilean Special Forces Corvo Atacameno Knife

The FAMAE Corvo Atacameño is a Chilean fixed-blade fighting knife built to the pattern issued to Chilean Special Forces. It has a 7.8-inch (198 mm) black-coated stainless steel blade that curves forward at about 45 degrees, the shape that sets the Atacameño apart from the more sharply hooked Comando model. The blade is 5 mm thick, overall length is about 12.4 inches, and the knife weighs 410 grams. A checkered synthetic handle, flat crossguard, flared pommel and white lanyard cord complete it. It suits collectors of military knives and users who want a heavy, forward-weighted chopper with genuine Chilean service lineage.

Description

FAMAE Corvo Atacameño

The corvo is Chile's national knife, a forward-curving blade built for hooking and slashing cuts. This Atacameño version is made by FAMAE, Chile's state arms manufacturer, and follows the pattern issued to Chilean Special Forces and adopted by the Chilean Army. It suits collectors of military edged weapons and anyone who wants a working fixed blade with a real service history.

Features

  • 45-Degree Curved Blade — The blade sweeps upward at about 45 degrees, a gentler curve than the 90-degree Comando model and the detail that identifies the Atacameño variant.
  • 7.8-Inch Blade — The blade measures 7.8 inches (198 mm), giving an overall length of about 12.4 inches (315 mm).
  • Black-Coated Stainless Steel — Stainless steel resists rust, and the matte black coating cuts down on glare.
  • 5 mm Blade Stock — At 5 mm thick (about 0.2 in), the spine is stiff enough for heavy chopping and prying.
  • Checkered Synthetic Handle — A diamond-pattern texture molded into the black synthetic grip helps your hand hold on when it is wet or gloved.
  • Flat Steel Crossguard — A plate guard between blade and handle keeps your fingers from sliding forward onto the edge.
  • Flared Pommel With Lanyard — The handle widens at the butt, and a white braided cord with a brass end runs through the lanyard hole so you can secure the knife to your wrist or kit.
  • Made In Chile By FAMAE — The blade carries FAMAE markings at the ricasso, the unsharpened section just ahead of the guard.

Build And Dimensions

The knife weighs 410 grams (about 14.5 oz), and most of that weight sits forward in the thick, curved blade, which gives it real momentum on a cut. The handle is shaped with a palm swell, a guard at the front and a flared pommel at the back, so your hand stays put in a hard grip. Pair the black finish with the 5 mm stainless blade and you have a corvo meant for use, not just for display.
