    Good delivery and ease of packaging but this doesn't seem to have the most pungent smell of the bear pepper spray's I have bought. Not sure yet if this one will do the trick. Hopefully I will never need to use it, but this is what I carry when going on my mtn bike in grizzly country, and I have not yet had any bears approach me while on the bike. Hope I never will. This is what I use while fishing in the Kenai as well.

    We have just begun taking hiking trips in the Appalachian mountain region and also a few times per year going on camping trips to visit friends who have camps in Allegany and Steuben county. We have been advised to carry protection in case of encounters with bears, since we do not live in bear country, the closest place bears inhabit, which is to the west, north and northeast. I've carried firearms in my younger years, including having an A.C.P. magazine and several S&W, Springfield, Kimber and Ruger semi-automatic pistols, plus an A.R.15, along with being trained in combat firearms tactics by U.S. Navy Instructors at SLEP/COT. My daughter has not ever had any such training, nor myself, nor my wife who only occasionally accompany me on hiking trips and/or camping trips. We do, however, stay abreast of national current events, which may include bear maulings of individuals who had not properly defended themselves. The question of the type of self-defense, if need be, when encounters a dangerous creature of nature that had decided to become aggressive or even violent towards humans is not only based on past experiences, but on local information, as well. When we were living in Florida and had our timeshare in Daytona Beach, we were constantly reminded to be mindful of the shore bears that occasionally showed up in beach front homes, sometimes during a hurricane. These were smaller bear but much larger and hairier than their counterparts up north. I personally, when encountering a huge bear who could maul me and my daughter like he did to one unfortunate man, with one arm holding my (safely away from the bears grasp) hiking pole (similar to ones on which many types of large baton type of firearms can be attached), that bear could maul me to death with just one arm before my daughter could draw her small pistol, even at point blank range. As to myself, I am retired, age 78, disabled and am also carrying insulin, that may cause
