Gadsden Flag

A nylon Gadsden Flag showing the coiled timber rattlesnake and the motto DONT TREAD ON ME on a yellow field. Christopher Gadsden designed the flag during the American Revolutionary War, and the Continental Marines flew it. This version has a white duck canvas heading along the hoist edge, which reinforces the side that takes the most strain. Two brass grommets set in that heading let you clip it to a flagpole halyard or hang it on a wall. It suits anyone who wants a traditional early American flag for a pole outside, a workshop wall or a collection.

Description

Classic Gadsden Flag

This is the Gadsden Flag: a coiled rattlesnake over the words DONT TREAD ON ME on a bright yellow field. Christopher Gadsden designed it during the American Revolutionary War, and the Continental Marines flew it. It suits a flagpole outside the house, a wall in a garage or range room, or anyone who wants an early American flag in their collection.

Features

  • Coiled Rattlesnake Design — A timber rattlesnake, coiled with its jaws open and ready to strike, sits on a patch of green grass at the center of the flag.
  • Traditional Motto — DONT TREAD ON ME runs in bold black capitals beneath the snake, spelled without the apostrophe as on many versions of the flag.
  • Yellow Field — The golden yellow background gives the black and green artwork strong contrast, so it reads clearly from a distance.
  • Nylon Fabric — The flag is made from nylon, a light synthetic fabric suited to outdoor flying.
  • Duck Canvas Heading — A white duck heading, a strip of tightly woven canvas, reinforces the hoist edge where the flag takes the most strain.
  • Brass Grommets — Two brass grommets, one at the top and one at the bottom of the heading, let you clip the flag to a halyard (the rope on a flagpole) or hang it from hooks.
  • Revolutionary War Origin — The design dates to the American Revolution of 1775 to 1783, when the Continental Marines carried it.

Build And Hanging

The nylon body is joined to a canvas heading along the hoist side, and the grommets are set through that heavier strip instead of the thinner flag fabric. That makes it simple to run up a residential pole with standard snap hooks, or to fix flat to a wall with screws or nails through the grommets.

    Great flag for the price

    Overall Rating

Great deal, love my flag -- the material is a little see-through, but because it's such a bright color it really doesn't show. The detail is perfect and the colors are strong.

I bought this to hang over my bed and it's a really attractive flag that always receives attention when I bring friends over. It's colorful, bright and large. The snake is detailed beautifully and is priced very graciously. Thanks KeepShooting!
