Better Than My Old ALICE, No ContestI can tell you straight up this Bundeswehr Kampfrucksack is genuinely more comfortable on the back. The padded shoulder straps actually distribute load without cutting into your shoulders after mile three, and the rubberized inner lining kept my sleep system dry when I crossed a creek on a three-day field problem in the Smoky Mountains last fall. The Flecktarn five-color pattern is surprisingly effective in mixed deciduous terrain, way more broken up than M81 woodland at distance. Mine arrived in what I'd call Grade A condition some light braiding on the excess buckle straps from the previous Bundeswehr soldier, but the nylon shell has zero abrasion damage and the quick-release buckles snap tight with zero play. Only real gripe is the two side flank pockets, while solid, are noticeably smaller than ALICE side pouches you can fit a 1-quart canteen in each but that's about it. Not a dealbreaker for me, but if you're used to ALICE's cavernous side pockets you'll notice the difference. For the price this thing is beating any new commercial ruck at twice the cost.
Far more comfortable than ALICE thanks to padded shoulder straps and back pane
Side flank pockets noticeably smaller than ALICE pack pockets

Looks IncredibleI've always been a fan of the German Flecktarn pattern and this rucksack does not disappoint in person. The camouflage looks amazing and blends beautifully in wooded environments, which makes sense since it was designed for German soldiers operating in European forests.
Real Surplus.

Just receivedThis pack is great. It's much bigger than I thought it would be, which is a nice bonus. I haven't used it yet, but I did put a sleeping bag in it (patrol) and there is plenty of room for everything else I take when overnight.
real army, cool camo

My go to bag for over a decadeThis has been my go to bag for over 10 years. It holds a huge amount of gear and its been used by me on everything from a one day hike to a three day overnight camp out. It has not failed once there are no holes or rips and the straps are just as good as the day i received mine years ago. When i saw these were available again I bought one to make sure i always have a spare. The one i received was as good and as nice as the original i bought years ago. My only issue is the price i wish they were still priced what they were a decade ago. Still this bag is a must have.
german army gear, flecktarn camo, huge carry capacity

Fantastic Bag. Get em while they're hot. This is a great bag. Well designed with plenty of space. Extra long straps on the top and middle which personally I love for being able to tie extras down. Large side compartments hold a lot of water. Small pockets tucked away all over as well as a large top section. Cinches up to seperate the bottom section from the middle. Some folks don't love the lack of frame but I find it really comfortable with my tarp folded up in the sleep mat pocket. Mine arrived in excellent condition, light use only evident from the braided excess straps. Seriously one of my best milsurp buys. Do it now before they're gone.
