Classic Metal Pea Whistle
The Rothco GI Type Police Whistle is a traditional metal signal whistle, the kind used for traffic control, drill, range commands and getting attention over distance. It follows the familiar pattern of the whistles once carried by soldiers and beat cops. It ships ready to wear, hung from a split ring on a braided cord lanyard. Keep one on a neck cord, in a pack or in a vehicle kit for when a shout won't carry.
Features
- Pea Whistle Design — A small ball, called the pea, sits inside the round chamber and spins in the airflow, breaking the note into the warbling trill people recognize from police and referee whistles.
- All-Metal Body — The chamber and mouthpiece are formed from metal rather than plastic, with a polished silver-tone finish.
- Echo Metal Whistle Stamp — The top of the mouthpiece is stamped "Echo Metal Whistle" in raised lettering.
- Raised Bite Ridge — A small raised bar near the tip of the mouthpiece gives your teeth something to hold, so you can keep the whistle in your mouth with your hands busy.
- Split Ring Attachment — A metal split ring runs through the loop at the back of the whistle, so you can move it to a keyring, zipper pull or gear loop.
- Braided Cord Lanyard — A brown braided cord, knotted into a loop, lets you wear the whistle around your neck right out of the package.
- GI-Type Pattern — The shape copies the classic military-style whistle: a round barrel chamber with a flat, open-topped mouthpiece.
Construction And Carry
This is a commercial whistle made by Rothco, not issued surplus. The metal body takes knocks better than a thin plastic whistle, and the polished finish wipes clean. The lanyard and split ring are separate pieces, so you can swap the cord for paracord or clip the whistle to a pack strap, duty belt or keys.

Loud and handy on trailsI took the GI police whistle on a weekend hike and it blew loud enough to be heard over the wind, I even used the lanyard to attach it to my backpack so I never lost it. The whistle gave a clear tone when I needed to signal a lost hiker, and the metal feel is solid. Overall it does exactly what i need.
Super loud sound

Great whistleAwesome little whistle. I live on an 80 acre farm and we can hear it over the whole farm. Loudness depends on air pressure
Loud, lightweight, shiny
A little lighter steel than the original military version, but just as loud
