Exactly What My 870 NeededBeen running Remington 870s since my time in the service and kept one as a home-defense piece after getting out. The factory LOP on a standard 870 always felt a hair long when I was working corners in kit 12 inches is just right for how I shoulder a scattergun in a confined space. This Hogue kit went on in about 20 minutes with a flathead and a 10mm socket, no drama. The fiberglass-reinforced polymer core with the overmolded rubber exterior is the real deal this is not some hollow import stock, you can feel the aluminum pillar bedding inserts when you torque down the action bolt and it doesn't budge. Rubber grip panels are the same tacky compound Hogue uses on their pistol grips, so even with wet hands coming in from the rain it stays planted. I compared it back-to-back against a Magpul SGA a buddy runs and honestly the Hogue wins on recoil absorption — that rubber soaks up 00 buck noticeably better than the SGA's harder polymer. Only minor gripe is the matching forend is maybe a touch thicker than I'd like, but that's a preference thing not a quality thing.
Overmolded rubber genuinely absorbs recoil better than hard polymer alternatives
Forend is slightly bulkier than factory takes a session to get used to
