This is a genuine Italian Army parka, a mid-thigh field coat cut to go over a uniform and keep out cold, wind and wet weather. A quilted liner buttons inside for cold days and comes out when the weather turns mild, so one coat covers most of the year. Collectors, reenactors and anyone who wants a well-built olive drab coat with real military provenance will find it useful.

Features

• Button-In Quilted Liner — A padded, box-quilted liner attaches with a row of buttons along the front opening and can be taken out for lighter wear.
• Concealed Zip Front — The main zipper sits behind a full-length storm placket, a covering flap that blocks wind from coming through the closure.
• Snap-Closed Storm Placket — Snaps hold the placket shut over the zipper for a second layer of protection.
• Stelletta Collar Insignia — Five-pointed stars on both collar points are the stellette worn by Italian military personnel.
• Shoulder Epaulets — Buttoned straps on each shoulder carry rank slides in issue use and keep the military profile.
• Two Lower Flap Pockets — Large hip pockets with pointed flaps keep gloves, maps and small kit dry.
• Gathered Waist — Shaping at the waist pulls the coat in at the middle so it does not hang loose like a box.

Original Issue Build

The parka is made from a blend of cotton, polyester and nylon in a solid olive drab. It was made for the Italian Army, not for the retail market, so it has issue hardware, a lined interior and the stellette insignia of the armed forces. The cut is roomy enough for a sweater or fleece underneath when the liner is out.
