ITS Escape Laces are boot laces woven entirely from DuPont Kevlar, built to get you out of plastic zip-tie restraints if you are ever illegally detained. Pulled back and forth across a zip tie, the lace works as a friction saw: the heat it generates melts through the plastic. Laced into your boots they look like ordinary laces, so the tool goes everywhere your footwear does without drawing attention.

How The Saw Works

Kevlar holds up to the friction and heat that would wear through a cotton or nylon lace, which is why it can saw through a zip tie at all. To use it, pull the lace from your boot, thread it through the zip tie, and work it back and forth quickly until the plastic gives. Between uses they lace up and tie like any other boot lace, so swapping them into the boots you already wear is all it takes to carry one.
