I bought this machete to replace a SOG 12" machete that I had damaged with only two days of abuse. The Ontario is much heavier, but built like a tank. The only problem I have had with it is that the pins in the handle became loose, but I was able to easily pound them back in, and I covered the handle with paracord. I still give five stars for quality because it is the most durable blade I have ever used. Highly recommended product.

I own a Chinese cheap one I got at flea market, they said it was original but i did some homework and its not, no wonder it was only $10. I would definitely recommend the real thing.

I have an older one of these Ontario machetes around which is WWII vintage built in 1945. I did not want to damage the older one by hacking things around the backyard. So, I purchased a new Ontario machete. The only real differences between the two is that the old one has some sort of what appears to be an early plastic handle the newer one has a more modern thicker plastic handle. The blades are identical except for the stamps and the newer one has some sort of phosphate finish. Honestly the new one is not made, “like they use to”; the new one is slightly better made. If you are looking for a machete I do not think you could beat this one, even if you spent a whole lot more.

Proven in the field for over a half a century. I have two and the rivets will eventually work loose on the handle. Lots of fixes for that. Much better than the Chinese knock-offs,
