Description
Frontier-Style Padlock
This large padlock follows the look of locks from the American frontier era: a flat riveted body, a thick arched shackle and a key that looks like it belongs on a jailer's ring. It suits a wooden trunk, tool chest, tack box, cabin door or a display shelf, anywhere a modern brass lock would look out of place. Reenactors, collectors and anyone building a western-themed space will get the most out of it.
Features
- Riveted Body Plate — Six round rivets hold the flat, rounded-bottom body together, which gives it the hand-built look of a 19th-century lock.
- Heavy Arched Shackle — The thick, rounded shackle sits deep in the body and has enough opening for a hasp, chain link or staple.
- Brass-Tone Keyhole Cover — A pivoting brass-colored shutter swings over the keyhole to keep dirt and grit out of the mechanism when the lock is closed.
- Two Skeleton-Style Keys — Both keys use the old barrel-and-bit pattern, a long round shank with a single cut flag at the end, and come on a split ring.
- Matching X10 Stamping — The lock face and both key bows carry the same X10 mark, so the keys are easy to match to their lock.
- Aged Metal Finish — Darkened edges and a brushed face give the steel-gray body a worn, used look straight out of the box.
- Large Size — This is the large version, with a broad body and heavy shackle that read clearly on a big chest, gate or door.
Build and Use
The lock is a solid metal body with exposed rivets, a gray aged finish and a contrasting brass-tone keyhole cover. It locks and opens with the two included keys. Its value is in character and appearance, so it fits best on furniture, storage and displays where period style counts as much as keeping a lid shut.
