Frontier-Style Padlock
This Old West padlock follows the shape of the heavy lever-key locks once hung on strongboxes, barn doors and freight chests. It has a rounded body, a thick shackle and an aged metal finish that looks like it came off a stagecoach. It suits trunks, footlockers, reenactment kit, saloon or ranch decor, and display shelves where a modern brass padlock would look out of place.
Features
- Distressed Metal Finish — Polished high points with darkened, pitted edges give the lock a worn, period look straight out of the box.
- Riveted Body Plates — Large exposed rivets hold the case together, the same visible construction you see on 19th-century padlocks.
- Heavy Rounded Shackle — A thick U-shaped shackle (the hinged loop that passes through a hasp or chain) sits high above the body.
- Brass-Tone Plate — A contrasting brass-colored plate on the face sits just above the keyhole.
- Bit Key Mechanism — The lock uses bit keys, the old style with a flat toothed blade at the end of a round shank, in place of a modern pin-tumbler cylinder.
- Two Keys Included — Two matching keys come on a split ring, so you have a spare from day one.
- Stamped Matching Number — The lock body and both key bows carry a stamped number, so the keys are easy to pair with their lock.
Period Look and Use
The design is about looks and feel. Exposed rivets, a skeleton-style keyhole and hand-worn finish place it firmly in the frontier era. Use it to close a wooden chest, finish a Western-themed room, round out a living-history setup, or display it alongside other period hardware.
