    Good basic day-trip bag. The straps make it too short to be a comfortable pack, but that was to be expected. I use this as an outdoor day bag. You can carry enough to carry enough to have a nice walk, but the space is so limited that I have not been tempted to try to cram my lunch in there. It holds a bottle and a few small odds and ends (keys, cell phone, etc). My net pocket holds a book or notebook. For me this is not really a backpack; I am carrying no more than I could hold in my hands and I'm very happy with the utility I get from it. Update 1/22/13 I've had the shoulder bag for a while now and it's been wonderful. However, this morning I dropped it on my concrete patio, hard, from about 2 feet up. My zipper, though metal, was crushed and ripped right off. It has not damaged the material, but the bottom part of the pocket was pulled open and I lost all the change and some smaller items (I can blame it on one of the grandkids who loves the small coin purse it holds!). I think I will make the new bag by folding a few extra canvas strips over a form (book) so that I can add 4 - 6 inches of width and another 2 inches of depth.

    A classic is a classic. Nothing beats a Rothco. Love this item and i highly reccomend it. It's perfect. I use it to work at work for emergency stuff. Very well made. My partner love it too and asked for one.
