The Rock Island Armory 1911 XT 22 Magnum is a full-size Government-model 1911 chambered in .22 Magnum, also sold as .22 WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire). It gives you the size, weight and controls of a classic steel 1911 with far lighter recoil and cheaper ammunition than a centerfire pistol. It suits target shooters, plinkers and owners of a centerfire 1911 who want to practice the same manual of arms for less money per round.

Build And Handling

Armscor builds the XT 22 Magnum (model 51996) on the same full-size steel platform as its centerfire Government pistols, so the grip angle, safety placement and slide stop sit where a 1911 owner expects them. The weight of the steel frame and the 5-inch barrel soak up most of what little recoil the .22 Magnum produces. That makes the pistol easy for newer shooters to manage and a practical training gun for anyone who already shoots a 1911.
