This is Ruger's own 5-round magazine for the Mini Thirty, built by Sturm, Ruger & Co. under part number 90012 rather than by an aftermarket copier. It is chambered for 7.62x39mm, the cartridge the Mini Thirty and the Ruger American Ranch rifle are built around. The short five-round body sits low under the rifle, which keeps the gun easier to carry and handle from a bench, and it suits hunters who are held to capacity limits in the field.

Fit And Construction

The magazine fits the Ruger Mini Thirty and the Ruger American Rifle Ranch chambered in 7.62x39mm. It will not fit the Mini-14, which uses a different magazine for .223/5.56. Construction is a blued steel body with a polymer follower and baseplate, and both photographs show the witness holes punched into the side and rear of the shell.
