Russian NR-30 Inert 30mm Round

This is an inert 30mm round for the Soviet NR-30 aircraft cannon, issued through Russian service. It has a black pointed projectile, a copper driving band that gripped the barrel's rifling, and a long gold-toned metal case with a rimmed base. Because it is inert, it holds no live propellant or explosive and is meant for display and handling. Its size makes it a strong centerpiece next to smaller cartridges. It suits collectors of Soviet aviation and Cold War ordnance, history enthusiasts, and anyone putting together a military display shelf.

Description

Soviet 30mm Cannon Round

This is an inert 30mm round for the NR-30, the Soviet Nudelman-Rikhter autocannon fitted to Cold War jet fighters. Inert means the round holds no live propellant or explosive, so it can sit on a shelf, desk or display board rather than in an ammunition store. Collectors of Soviet aviation hardware, military history enthusiasts and anyone building a Cold War ordnance display will find it a substantial, recognizable piece.

Features

  • NR-30 Cannon Ammunition — The round is sized for the NR-30, a 30mm aircraft cannon from the Soviet era.
  • Inert Display Round — It contains no live propellant or explosive charge, so it is suited to display and handling.
  • Black Pointed Projectile — A dark, tapered projectile with a sharp conical nose sits in the case mouth.
  • Copper Driving Band — A copper ring around the projectile's base, which gripped the barrel's rifling to spin the shell in flight, is plainly visible.
  • Metal Cartridge Case — The long, straight-walled case has a pale gold-toned metallic finish.
  • Machined Base Rim — The case ends in a rim and extraction groove at the base, the part the cannon's mechanism gripped to pull the spent case.
  • Russian Army Origin — It is genuine issued ordnance from Russian service, not a cast or turned display copy.

About the NR-30

The NR-30 was a heavy-hitting Soviet aircraft cannon, and its 30mm rounds were noticeably larger than the 23mm ammunition used in many other Soviet aircraft guns. This round shows the standard layout of the type: a pointed projectile, a copper driving band and a long metal case. As a collectible it gives a clear, physical sense of the firepower carried by Soviet jets during the Cold War.

This thing is a chunk. Way heftier than the 30mm GAU inert I got a while back. Sits on my desk at work and everyone asks about it.

    Great coffee table piece lol

Building out my gun room slash man cave and needed some cool display pieces to go with my rifles. This 30mm round is perfect. Its sitting on a little wooden stand I made next to my AK and it looks incredible. Everyone who comes over picks it up and goes "what the heck is this" and then I get to give them a 10 minute history lesson about Soviet aircraft cannons lol. The size is no joke 11.5 inches of solid Russian military hardware. Its completely inert so the wife dosent freak out about it being in the house which is a bonus. Customer service was real helpful when I asked about the weight before ordering because I wanted to make sure my floating shelf could handle it. Straight answer, no runaround

    Amazing display piece

Its heavier than you think, plan your display accordingly
