Law Enforcement Pepper Foam

The SABRE Red MK-4 is a 3.3 oz duty canister of OC pepper foam, labeled as a law enforcement unit and sized to ride on a duty belt. Foam was chosen over a spray stream because it clings to the subject's face instead of breaking into a mist. Less of it hangs in the air, so there is less cross-contamination of the officer, bystanders and enclosed spaces such as vehicles or holding rooms. It suits patrol officers, corrections staff and security personnel who need a less-lethal option that can also be used indoors.

Formula and Handling

The back label gives the deployment instructions: spray half-second to one-second bursts from ear to ear across the subject's eyes, up to a maximum of three bursts. Do not spray closer than 3 feet (1 meter), and do not spray into the wind. Store the canister below 120°F (50°C) and above 32°F (0°C), and test-spray it periodically to confirm it still works. First-aid and decontamination instructions are also printed on the canister.
