The US Navy Winter Blue Uniform is authorized for all ranks in the US Navy. What sets this uniform set apart is the use of a wool blend material that is near black and is styled after a traditional button-up dress shirt. Having been made from a wool blend these long sleeve shirts are incredibly warm and the polyester blended with wool makes them strong and comfortable.
This is the uniform shirt I wore during my last 10 years in the Navy! "Winter working blue" was the uniform of the day and it was a very easy uniform to maintain. Obviously you wore a t-shirt under it, and it was worn with a tie mostly. I bought this to replace the last one from my active duty days, as after 33 years in retirement, it's still a thrill to be able to wear the old uniform on special occasions, reunions, etc.
The shirts are polyester 75% and wool 25%
I bought my first one April 8th, 2017 and that is what the description read at that time, as it does now.
The shirt I received according to the tag is not 75% wool and 25% polyester, but reversed. It is listed as 75% Polyester and 25% wool. I don.t know if I got something different or the listing was incorrect. Would others who have purchased this shirt, look at the tags and advise what the material is listed at.
Although the shirt is a bit rough feeling, even after washing, it is still very high quality and comfortable with a T shirt under it. As this is written, KS has a wide size selection and it is rare that I find a surplus shirt that actually fits. (17/32). This one is perfect. I suspect it will see the most use in spring and fall. In winter I usually wear a heavier shirt although this one is not lightweight. I may be underestimating its warmth potential. Well worth the price.
Fits good, quality is ok, looks durable enough. Wool gets ever so slightly itchy after wearing all day, but you knew that.
I have a 46" chest and the 18 x 35 fits perfect. Shirt is wool blend and is warm . Looks good , a great value.
