- Genuine USMC Issue — Authentic Rugged All Terrain (R.A.T.) combat boot developed alongside the United States Marine Corps and fielded by warfighters worldwide.
- Temperate Weather Build — Engineered for moderate rainfall, mild summers, and cool to cold winters, making it a true year-round combat boot.
- Full-Grain Nubuck Leather Upper — Waterproof full-grain leather paired with 1000 denier nylon panels delivers abrasion resistance and breathability in a single package.
- Capped Toe and Heel Reinforcement — Polyurethane-reinforced toe and heel caps shrug off rocks, scree, and repeated kneeling without breakdown.
- Vibram Outsole — Aggressive Vibram lug pattern grips loose dirt, mud, gravel, and wet rock for confident footing on any terrain.
- Anchor and Globe Branding — Embossed USMC Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on the heel marks these as the real deal, not a commercial knock-off.

- Removable Cushioned Insole — Shock-absorbing footbed can be pulled for drying or swapped for an aftermarket orthotic.
- Stitch-Down Construction — Wider stitch-down platform increases lateral stability under load and allows the boot to be resoled rather than discarded.
- Made in the USA — Built to MIL-SPEC standards on American soil by approved USMC contract manufacturers.

RAT Marine Corps bootsAmazing boots! Got the Gore-Tex version and they're NOT too warm for warmer weather! Heavy duty, and great fit! A little hard to get on / off at first due to the Gore-Tex bootie, but awesome everyday wear!
Waterproof, hard toe and heel, and durable
Hard to put on / take off for first week or so

Good Wellco Example Know What You're Getting vs. DannerFrom a collection standpoint these are interesting because the RAT contract was split between at least two manufacturers. Danner being the more commonly discussed and Wellco being the less glamorous but equally legit USMC-contract builder. My pair from Keepshooting is the flat-collar variant consistent with production runs from the late 2000s to early 2010s, and the leather anchor-and-globe toe and heel cap reinforcements are correctly rendered. The insole has contractor markings consistent with DLA footwear contracts of that era. Compared side-by-side with my 2006 pull-tab Danner temperate pair, the Wellco sole unit looks nearly identical both use the Vibram design but the upper leather on the Wellco is marginally thinner. The Gore-Tex sock on these is intact and uncompromised, which is actually my main concern with any NOS temperate RAT since the Danner Reddit community has documented the Gore-Tex sock separating from the footbed on some pairs after years of storage. These have none of that. Worth noting: the temperate version has no drain holes (unlike the hot weather RATs), so don't confuse them if you're in a truly wet environment you want the temperate, and if you want to drain water fast you want the hot weather version. A solid, authentic piece of late-GWOT era USMC footwear history.
Legitimate USMC surplus with correct contractor-era markings and flat-collar construction
Gore-Tex sock intact no separation issues common to some stored pairs
Correctly rendered anchor-and-globe leather cap reinforcementsWellco upper leather is marginally thinner than Danner-contract pairs

Best work boot I've bought in yearsBought these for construction work after my last pair of Red Wings gave out. Size 10R fit true to my usual boot size. First thing you notice they're TIGHT to get on that first time. Like, really tight. But thats by design, theyre meant to stay locked on once youre laced up. After about a week of break-in, the nubuck softened up nicely and now theyre my go-to. The 1000D nylon upper takes abuse from rebar and concrete without tearing, and the Vibram-style lug pattern grips decent on wet surfaces. For the money? Cant beat it. Way better value than dropping $180 on civilian work boots.
True to size once broken in

Bought for my husband, he loves themGot these as a gift and he hasnt taken them off lol. Says there comfortable enough for long days on his feet. Only thing he mentioned was he swapped the insoles out pretty quick for some gel ones he already had.
Great price for the quality
Stock insoles are just okay

Incredibly tough bootsI wanted a pair of boots that could handle the rocky and muddy trails here in the Pacific Northwest without falling apart after one season and these have exceeded my expectations. The thermoplastic toe box has already saved my toes twice from kicking rocks on steep descents and the anti-abrasion heel guard shows almost no wear after months of heavy use. The stitchdown construction gives them a nice flex through the forefoot that I wasn't expecting from such a rugged military boot.
Stitchdown construction provides surprising flexibility and comfort for a boot that is this solidly built
The removable insole that comes with the boots is decent but replacing it with an aftermarket insole makes a huge comfort difference
