Yugoslavian M53 Ammunition Belt

The Yugoslavian M53 Ammunition Belt is an authentic military surplus belt issued by the Yugoslav People's Army for use with the M53 "Å arac" general-purpose machine gun, a postwar Yugoslav copy of the German MG42. Each belt holds 50 rounds of 7.92x57mm Mauser or 7.62x51mm NATO and is constructed entirely of stamped steel links with an integral starter tab for fast loading. The non-disintegrating design lets you reload and run the belt again and again using a standard 8mm belt-loading machine. A solid pickup for M53, MG34, and MG42 belt-fed shooters, collectors, and reenactors.

    Non-disintegrating, reusable, perfect for semi-auto

    Quality

Bought this for my semi-auto M53 build specifically because it's the non-disintegrating Yugo type. The links stay connected after firing, which means I can reload the same belt repeatedly instead of chasing links all over the range. Links are solid steel, Yugo markings visible on several. Mine came as a complete 50-round belt, not loose links. Slightly stiff from storage grease, soaked in mineral spirits, wiped clean, moves freely now. Loaded with Romanian 8mm, ran through my gun perfectly feeds smooth, extracts smooth, belt stays intact. The non-disintegrating design is actually better for semi-auto use. I can load 50 rounds, shoot them, then reload the same belt. With disintegrating links I'd be crawling around picking up pieces. For $10 it's reusable range equipment.

    Nice Ammo Belt

    Overall Rating

Unfortunately, I do not own a M53 or MG42 so I can't attest to how these things work for live fire purposes. I bought this ammo belt to sew onto a pistol belt so I could wear a band of bullets around my waist like Rambo or some African warlord. I stitched this thing onto an old Belgian pistol belt made out of the cotton webbing (easier to stitch than thick nylon) and used a set of old USGI M-1956 webbing "H Style" suspenders to hold the rig up. Then I filled it up with 50 rounds of brass 7.62 NATO. Looks awesome. Now I just need some child soldiers and a diamond mine to "expropriate". Belt was rust free. Only gave it 4 stars because one of the half clamps on a link that holds the round in place was missing, but it still held it in place regardless.
