This is a fabric helmet cover issued by the Austrian Army, made to fit over a combat helmet shell. It breaks up the hard outline and surface shine of a bare helmet and gives it a matte olive green finish. Collectors use it to complete an Austrian helmet display, and reenactors and field users fit it to a compatible shell.

Original Austrian Issue

The cover was made for the Austrian Army's issue helmet, and its panels are cut to that shell's dome profile. Other helmets with a similar rounded shape and brim may also take it, but fit depends on the shell, so compare it with your helmet's profile before you commit. For an Austrian kit build, a period display or a reenactment loadout, an issued cover is more accurate than a generic aftermarket one.
