Solid barrel for a working rifleLooked at a couple brands but the Ballistic Advantage Modern M4 barrel had the 4150 chrome moly steel and that QPQ nitride finish which sounded a lot tougher than the phosphate on my last one. Price was fair too, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Install was straightforward, dropped into my upper receiver with no issues, M4 feed ramps lined up perfect. The .750 gas block journal is standard so my existing gas block fit fine. Took it to the range with some 55gr and 62gr, cycled everything fine, ejection was about 3 o'clock so its a little overgassed but that's pretty normal for a carbine gas system. Accuracy was good enough for what I need, hitting a man-sized target at 100 yards no problem. The 1:7 twist stabilizes heavier bullets if I ever want to use them for hunting or whatever. Honestly for a working rifle that might sit in a closet for months and then get grabbed in a hurry, this barrel is definitely a solid choice.
