Czech Pocket Field Dressing
This is the Czech Army's individual field dressing, marked OBVAZ KAPESNÍ vz. 80-II, which translates as pocket dressing, model 1980. Soldiers carried it so a wound could be covered and bound without unpacking a full medical kit. It is a compact set for a ruck, a vehicle kit or a Cold War collection.
Features
- Olive Green Gauze Roll — A 20-foot roll of open-weave gauze wraps over the pads and holds them in place.
- Two 6 x 8 Inch Pads — One pad is fixed to the bandage, and the second slides so you can place it beside the first on a large wound or over a second wound.
- Safety Pin Included — Use the steel safety pin to secure the end of the wrap when you would rather not tie it off.
- Tear-Open Pouch — The printed fabric pouch is marked "Roztržením otevři" (tear to open) and opens by hand at the notch, so you do not need a knife.
- Printed Use Instructions — The pouch carries six numbered steps in Czech, from opening the pack to tying or pinning the finished dressing.
- Bilingual Warsaw Pact Markings — Czech labelling sits alongside the Russian line "ПАКЕТ ПЕРЕВЯЗОЧНЫЙ ИНДИВИДУАЛЬНЫЙ 80", the period designation for an individual dressing packet.
- Marked Sterilizováno — The packaging is stamped as sterilized, as issued to the army.
- Maker Marked By RICO — Each pouch names RICO, n.p., Veverská Bítýška, závod 01, the state enterprise and factory that produced it.
Czechoslovak Issue vz. 80
The vz. 80-II was made for the Czechoslovak military by RICO, a national enterprise (n.p.) in Veverská Bítýška, and its Czech and Russian printing places it in the Warsaw Pact era. It is genuine government-issue kit, not a commercial copy. The layout of a fixed pad, a sliding pad and a long wrap follows the same field-dressing principle armies still use, which makes this set a good example for collectors, reenactors and anyone building a period-correct Eastern Bloc kit.

Great deal for the priceGot this to throw in my range bag and glad I did. Everything came sealed and looked brand new even tho its military surplus. The ace wrap is good quality and the bandages are sturdy. Cant beat it for what you pay.

Genuine military first aid supply at a price that makes bulk buying a no-brainer.As someone who teaches wilderness first aid courses I am always looking for affordable supplies to use in training demonstrations and to recommend to my students. These Czech Army bandage sets are exactly what I suggest for anyone who wants to build out multiple first aid kits on a budget. The bandages are a generous 6 by 8 inches which is large enough to cover most common wound types and the 20 foot gauze roll gives you plenty of material to work with for wrapping and securing. I opened one to inspect the contents and everything inside was clean sterile and well packaged. I have since ordered several more to hand out during classes and every student has been impressed with the quality.

Old-school durabilityThese vintage bandages may be older stock, but they’re built like tanks! Opened one up and found military-grade durability the canvas packaging is so tough, you’d struggle to tear it by accident. Still sterile and airtight, even after all these years. At under $3 each, they’re a no-brainer for bulk stocking. Bought two, but I’ll probably grab more later. Perfect for beefing up a bug-out bag or home first-aid kit, but skip ’em if you’re tight on space (they’re not pocket-sized).

Decent item; spotty conditionI bought several of these, due to good price. At least one arrived with the outer wrap torn open; that became my sampler piece. They are as advertised, a large (@6" square) dressing pad affixed to a long bandage, with a second pad loose on the bandage on a slider loop. Clearly these are designed for entry and exit gunshot wounds in a military context, but would work for any through-and-through penetrating wound without a protruding object. There are better field dressings out there (e.g. the Israeli bandage) but not at this price.
Second pad, free moving for exit wound; can be used adjacent to the first pad for large wounds. Good price for the quality.
Sterility is questionable.
