Better Than Expected ConditionThe rain drop pattern is crisp with good contrast between the olive drab base and the darker vertical dashes... not faded out like some of the stuff you see on Etsy or eBay where it's basically a solid green blob. Mine had all original buttons intact and the cotton-poly blend fabric still feels substantial, no thin spots or dry rot. For context, the Strichtarn pattern was adopted by the NVA in 1965 to replace the older Blumentarn, and this one based on the cut and pocket config (4 pockets, concealed arm pocket buttons) looks to be a later production, probably late 70s or early 80s. European sizing runs a bit different than US so measure yourself... don't just go by your normal shirt size.
Authentic NVA issue in near-unissued condition
Strichtarn pattern is vibrant and not faded

grab it while you canThis is genuine East German Army issue from a country that doesn't exist anymore, and once these are gone, nobody's making more in factories that closed decades ago. Mine arrived in essentially unissued condition with that distinct old warehouse smell that tells you it's legit 1980s stock. The Strichtarn rain drop pattern is crisp and clear, not faded like some surplus, and the cotton-poly blend is surprisingly sturdy. All buttons were intact and the fabric feels substantial. For $24, you're getting a piece of Cold War history that actually fits modern sizing.
Distinctive Strichtarn camo pattern (rain drop) stands out from modern multicam
Sizing runs slightly slim (order up if you plan to layer)

Cool pieceThese old east german surplus items are drying up fast and once there gone thats it, nobodys making more Strichtarn jackets in a factory that dosent exist anymore in a country that dosent exist anymore lol. Condition on mine was basically unissued, still had that old warehouse smell to it.
Unissued surplus condition, feels like opening a time capsule from 1985

Fast shipping and great quality.I love the unique raindrop pattern on this jacket because it stands out from the usual camo. The material is surprisingly breathable for being surplus, and the armpit vents really help when it gets warm. It fits a bit slim, but that just makes it look more modern and less baggy.
Cool raindrop pattern
