NVA Officer Cap
This is the garrison cap worn by officers of the Nationale Volksarmee, the army of the former East Germany. An overseas cap folds flat and sits to one side of the head, the lightweight alternative to the stiff peaked service cap. It carries the national cockade on the left front and is a recognizable piece for collectors, reenactors and anyone building a Cold War era uniform.

- Grey-Green Field Color — The cap is finished in the muted steingrau grey-green shade used across East German service dress.
- Folding Overseas Cut — The sides fold down flat, so the cap packs away and stows in a pocket when not worn.
- National Cockade Badge — The GDR emblem of hammer, compass and wreath sits on the left front, the mark of the issuing state.
- Officer Pattern — This is the officer version of the garrison cap rather than the enlisted ranks issue.
- Cotton, Poly And Wool Blend — Built from a mix of cotton, polyester and wool for structure that holds its shape.
- Stitched Crown Seams — Sewn panel seams run the length of the crown and hold the fold line.

Issue And History
The Nationale Volksarmee, or NVA, served the German Democratic Republic from 1956 until German reunification in 1990. The overseas cap was standard headgear for officers in everyday wear, lighter and easier to carry than the peaked service cap. As a genuine issued item it carries the provenance a reenactor or collector wants, down to the state cockade and the correct service color.

Perfect addition to my collectionThis thing is awesome I have been looking for an NVA officer cap for a while and this one did not disappoint. Wore it to a military show last weekend and got a lot of questions about it from other collectors which was fun. The piping detail along the top edge is still in really good shape which you dont always see on these older pieces, usually that stuff is worn down or fraying.

Sharp Lookin Cold War Piecegot this east german officer cap for my collection and it looks SOLID. the wool blend feels thick and the inside cotton liner is clean, no stains or holes. i was worried it might be faded but color is deep gray with nice red trim, exactly like the pics.
