THW Y-Strap Suspenders

These field suspenders were issued to the THW (Technisches Hilfswerk), Germany's federal agency for technical relief and civil protection. They hook onto a service belt and spread its weight across the shoulders, so a loaded belt sits higher and stops dragging at the hips. The blue-grey webbing matches the THW's service colors, which makes them a natural fit for collectors, reenactors and anyone building an authentic German load-carrying setup.

Features

• Y-Strap Layout — Two shoulder straps meet at a metal ring behind the neck and continue as a single strap down the back, which keeps the harness from slipping off the shoulders.
• Blue-Grey Woven Webbing — The straps are a flat woven webbing in the blue-grey shade used on THW equipment.
• Adjustable Sliders — Metal slide buckles on the front straps and the rear strap let you set the length to your torso and your belt height.
• Metal Belt Hooks — Hooks on the front straps clip over a belt, and the rear strap ends in its own metal clip for the back attachment point.
• Multiple D-Rings — Metal D-rings along both shoulder straps give you anchor points for clipping on a bag strap, lanyard or small piece of kit.
• Leather Reinforcement Tabs — Black leather tabs back the lower D-rings and cap the end of the rear strap where the webbing takes the most strain.
• Central Junction Ring — A metal O-ring joins all three straps, allowing them to pivot as you move instead of pulling against each other.
• Genuine THW Issue — These came from German government stock and are not a later commercial copy.

Issue and Fit

The design follows the classic German Y-harness pattern. Two front straps attach to the belt at the front, while a single strap runs down the spine to the rear. Since every strap adjusts through its slider, one set fits a wide range of builds and belt positions. Pair them with a standard service or field belt to carry pouches, a canteen or tools without the belt sagging under the load.
