The Technisches Hilfswerk are widely recognized in Germany and have played an important role in civil relief since the founding in 1950. With the distinctive geared logo of the THW and the uniform of their first responders the people of Germany know they are in good hands when the THW arrives.
You can now own these authentic German THW field suspenders which are based on the military Y-strap style. With just the right amount of hardware, tough canvas straps, and aluminum components these suspenders are built to last. For those with a creative side, the components from these suspenders can also be used to construct your own Y-Strap style suspenders. Customers have produced leather versions using just the original metal from these THW suspenders with their own custom cut leather straps.

I'm 6 foot 1 and there is no way that these will fit me as they are. What I'm going to do is use the hardware from these and add my own material to make a set that will fit. At the price, they are worth it for the hardware alone.
Extensions are required for maybe 5'5" and over. Old cotton weave in decent condition. My guess would be these metal buckles/ hooks looped behind and under a waist belt for a quick detach set up. Think "improvise here". They are surplus....
I'm 5'10" ..these suspenders are well made but too small for me.
