A threaded barrel leaves its muzzle threads exposed whenever no muzzle brake, flash hider or suppressor is fitted. Those threads are the spiral grooves cut into the end of the barrel to hold a muzzle device. This Backup Tactical thread protector screws over them to keep dings, dirt and corrosion off the threads and to give the muzzle a finished look. It is made for .223 rifles, for shooters who run their barrel bare between setups or want a cleaner profile than open threads.

Fit And Compatibility

This protector is listed for .223 rifles, but barrels of the same caliber can be threaded to different pitches, meaning the size and spacing of the threads. Before ordering, check the thread pitch stamped on your barrel or listed in your rifle's documentation and make sure it matches. If your barrel is not threaded, a thread protector will not attach.
