Husband loves this weird navy knife thingI have NO idea what a marlin spike is or why anyone needs one. My husband is into all this military surplus stuff and I saw this Italian Navy knife on here and thought it looked cool? He opened it on his bday and immediately got that look guys get when they get tools they actually wanted. Apparently the marlin spike is for sailors to poke at rope knots or something. He spent like 20 minutes showing me all the parth the bottle opener (which he tested immediately on his beer), the can opener, the flat screwdriver end... I dont get it but hes happy. The plastic handle has these little ribs that feel nice to hold. Shipping was fast and it came in a little baggie. If your husband is into old knives and boats this is apparently a good one.
Husband was genuinely excited
I still dont understand what a marlin spike does

sailor multi toolPicked this up for the boat and its been handy as heck. Used the marlin spike last weekend to loosen a couple stubborn dock line knots that were soaked and jammed tight and it worked great. Blade is a sheepsfoot so it doesnt snag when your cutting rope or canvas which I like. Tools are a bit STIFF to open at first specially the spike and can opener so you gotta work them a few times. Plastic ribbed grips feel good even with wet hands. Does what its supposed to for surplus gear.
marlin spike actually works on knots
