K98 Front Sight Hood
The front sight on a Mauser Karabiner 98k is a thin blade that sits exposed at the muzzle end of the rifle, and a knock against a doorframe or a fall in the rack can bend it and throw your aim off. This Mil-Tec sight hood covers that blade with a curved metal shroud. It suits collectors restoring a K98k that has lost its hood, shooters who want the blade protected, and reenactors who want a rifle that looks correct from the muzzle back.

- Front Sight Protection — The arched top sits over the front sight blade and takes the impacts that would otherwise bend it or shift your point of aim.
- Open-Bottom U Profile — A slot runs the length of the underside so the hood can straddle the front sight base.
- Inturned Retaining Lips — The bottom edge of each side turns inward to grip under the sight base and hold the hood in position.

Fit And Construction
The hood is a single formed piece with a smooth crown and flat side walls that step in at the base to clip around the front sight base. It is shaped for the K98k pattern front sight, so check your rifle's sight base before ordering if you own a different Mauser variant. Many surplus Mausers turn up with the hood missing, and this is a simple way to put one back.

Best cheap upgrade for a Mauser.This is a great reproduction for anyone who has a rifle missing the hood. It feels really solid and the spring tension is exactly what it should be. It definitely makes the front sight look a lot better and protects it from getting bumped at the range.

An absolute must haveIf you own a Russian capture K98 and you want it to look historically accurate then this sight hood is one of the first things you should buy. It is one of the most affordable restoration parts available and makes an immediate difference in the overall appearance of the rifle. I installed mine in about five seconds with no tools needed and it sits exactly where it should protecting the front sight post. The spring steel holds it firmly in place and I have no concerns about it falling off during handling or shooting. Such a small part but it really completes the look.
